On Monday, November 14th, GFES students will participate a service project called “Change the World with Onigiri.” Participating students will help feed needy kids around the world by making an Onigiri (Japanese rice ball) and posting a picture of their Onigiri. For every Onigiri picture posted, Table for Two will donate five meals. If you do not want your child’s picture to be posted on a public website, please let your JIP teacher know.
We need JCC members to volunteer their time and/or Onigiri-making supplies to make this service project a success. Please see the sign up sheet HERE.
The “Change the World with Onigiri” project supports World Food Day (October 16), which was established by the United Nations as a day for everyone to think about food problems in the world. More information about the campaign HERE.
The Japanese Conversation Club has been invited to sing Japanese songs at the annual Japan Care Fund Bazaar, which will take place on Sunday, November 20th at the American Legion Fairfax Post (3939 Oak St. Fairfax, VA 22030). GFES students will be singing from 12:00-12:15pm. Japanese goodies, including food and fresh vegetables from Suzuki Farm, will be sold.
For more information and to sign up your child to perform, please visit out sign up sheet HERE.
Songs (music and lyrics) we are learning and will be performing can be found HERE.

Thanks to the generous contribution by some JIP families, the JCC is able to host a Halloween-themed fall festival potluck event this Saturday from 5pm to 8pm at the McLean Firehouse Teen Center (MAP) in honor of visiting Japanese students from our sister school in Hiroshima, Eisugakkan.
Come and enjoy some games and activities, and bring an American-style fall food to share (chili, macaroni & cheese, Thanksgiving foods, ham, stews, etc…). We want our Japanese guests to have an experience that they cannot have Japan. Each dish should be large enough to serve at least 6 people. The JCC will provide plates, napkins, cutlery and bottled water. Also, please consider volunteering for an hour or two to help run some of the activities so that everyone can enjoy some fun and games.
Sign Up HERE to join us for a great evening.
The JCC will be holding it’s monthly meeting Friday, October 14 from 9am to 10am in the conference room at the Great Falls Starbucks.
