The JCC launched its first annual Japanese art program during the 2014-2015 school year.
JIP students from first through six grade learned about Chigiri-e, which is a Japanese art form wherein traditional Japanese paper called Washi is torn and pasted together to create colorful paper to be used for calligraphy or arranged so that it resembles a water color painting. The technique dates from the early Heian period (794-1185) of Japanese history. Continue reading
